Embodying the spirit of Nonviolent Communication

Embodying the spirit of Nonviolent Communication
Through the portals of our physicality to a deeper connection with the flow of life
– using practices from Contact Improvisation
We see Nonviolent Communication (NVC) not only as a communication model to sort out our relationships, but a choice of how fully we want to experience human life. It is a choice to acknowledge the interconnectedness of it all, a choice to open up to the evolutionary flow of Life, a choice to extend beyond the known self, and to embrace it all.
So the challenge (and the promise) of NVC may be not merely how to intellectually solve the puzzle of our relationship, but how to fully embody the spirit of connection – be it the self-connection with our deepest authenticity, or the fully honest and compassionate connection with others, or even letting go and let ourselves fall into the flow of Life…
In this fully practical and experiential weekend retreat we will use our bodies as the portals to a deeper integration of life, and explore:
- how our empathic receiving can widen from a communication technique into a magical following of the unfoldment of Life in another human being
- how to stay connected with life in us, even in challenging situations
- how to transform the on-going fight with life into an ever-new dance with life
- how to integrate all the aspects of the flow of life, including ones which where initially perceived as unpleasant
- what keeps us from shining in our full authenticity and deepest integrity
- how to find incredible strength of full authenticity within the space of sheer nakedness and vulnerability.
While most of the work in this retreat will indeed include movement of our bodies and meeting others in the space of movement and physicality, no prior experience of contact improvisation or any dance method is needed, nor are you expected to have any additional physical abilities beyond standing and walking.
I’m not dancing, I’m just allowing life to move me
Facilitated by Robert Kržišnik (Slovenia) and Noa Ilay-Shilo (Israel)
From early teenage years I have been inquiring into the questions of meaning of life, the nature of existence and the ways of meeting each other in our innocence, at the heart level. The journey led me through studying Psychology, working as a psychotherapist for 12 years, and working as a trainer, facilitator for over 29 years, covering areas from spiritual retreats to business trainings.
Within the context of Nonviolent Communication I am most passionate about conflict mediation as well as the spiritual and embodied dimensions. Besides NVC, most important explorations on my journey have so far been Soto Zen, Art of Hosting, Bohmian Dialogue, Contact Improvisation…
I am a certified trainer with CNVC, have been regularly serving as a trainer on 9-day International Intensive Trainings and 9-day European Intensive Courses, and have shared NVC in over 20 countries in Europe, US, Mideast, Asia, Australia…
My formal educational background is in biology, but the thirst for exploring life had led me to focus on human connections through various teachings such as Kabbalah, Sufism, Shamanism, supporting Personal Evolution Processes, Dialogic- education, group facilitation and in the recent years – mainly through Nonviolent Communication.
The key questions that have been guiding my life so far have been: What does it mean to live life fully? How to find the balance between authenticity and care in each moment? What brings most aliveness to individuals, to the connection among us and with the flow of life?
From early childhood I felt most free when dancing and still see movement as a direct form of self-expression. This is why movement and Contact Improvisation have been, for several years, another source of inspiration into exploring how to bypass limiting patterns we were conditioned into, and opening to the flow of life.
